Hey! My name is Elizabeth and I'm the owner of Urban Impact. My life has been full of mentors and influences I've looked up to throughout my childhood and high school years. Many of whom I can name are my: dance teacher whom I've known since I was 10, my other dance teachers, and a couple of my school teachers I had in elementary, middle, and high school. My past therapists, my tutors, and peers that I've been friends with forever. Authentic believers and inspirers in the world of fame, and my family. One influence that has struck inspiration in me ever since I had the capability of understanding and conceptualized meaning in life; is my dad. My dad is a one-of-a-kind. He is a very hard worker in everything he does. His habits, behaviors, and enjoying life have made me admire him as much as I aspire to any celebrities I look up to. He is a franchise for several Mexican restaurants. He has always taken me to his restaurants to see how he operates the business. He would teach me and tell me to listen to how he handles problems in his business. Altogether, he teaches me valuable wisdom and knowledge about business and this crazy place called life. Every lesson he's taught me has led me to create the business I have today. When I was 12 my parents would watch Shark Tank and I would sit in the living room and watch it with them. There were several ideas I got from that show that I wanted to do as a business. My dad even said I should sell bowties, I burst into laughter but kept an open mind to that idea. All my life I was full of creativity and spirit. I had so many ideas to create and put out for the world to see. To be frank, all I wanted to do was just create projects and be happy. Going back to my 12-year-old self trying to find an idea for a business, I loved all the ideas I was finding on the internet and YouTube but nothing was quite capturing my spirit. As I went through my mid-teen and starting of high school years I was still creating and making projects and crafts that made me want to create more. I'm also a Hip Hop dancer and at the time was on a competitive team. Fast forward to 2020 my Junior Year of High School. The idea of my business started with myself taking a dance class on Zoom when the pandemic was still contagious. My teacher asked every dancer "If they had a business what would the business be?" I answered with "A clothing line store, because I like clothing and I want to be able to make clothing that fit me, was comfy, lounge and trend worthy at the same time, would be awesome to create." Then after that class, I immediately started getting more ideas about creating my clothing. "Hip, trendy, streetwear, artistic, and most of all comfy clothing?! Sounds pretty damn cool to me!" I started my research and found a couple of embroidery places around where I lived. I also had the idea of doing embroidery on clothing! I went to check out the embroidery place and took in some knowledge about what the owner said. Then I searched on Yelp and found this screen printer that I thought could screen print the designs I was making at home in my room and put it on clothing. I visited that screen printer's house and talked with them. I wasn't connecting with them like I thought I would so I searched again on Yelp and found another screen printer a few blocks away and in the same neighborhood. The lady I found was able to do the screen printing at a much cheaper price. I also connected with her better! After I did all the research and went out to find my manufacturers my tutor at the time helped me with creating a website for my business. Making the website took over two months because of school and my outside responsibilities. At the same time, I was getting discouraged because of how difficult it was to create a business and to get it all into one website at the time, but I kept pushing myself. Later that year my friends helped me model my clothing a couple of months before I launched the website. We had such a blast modeling and having a great time being ourselves. A couple of months later in May of 2021, my clothing business website launched! I started sales and was the happiest person on earth. As senior year rolled around I started wearing my brand to school and started getting more eyes on my store. By the end of 2021, I sold the inventory I had in my house. I couldn't believe it. I learned I grew, and have more knowledge about running a business and an online business!! Who, I love doing art in all forms and creating things that give me life. I love to dance and work on self-development, I love to help and give wisdom to others to help them be more in tune with who they are. I have a passion for achieving my dreams and goals and that's another reason why I made my business to inspire and show anyone can do anything their heart desires to do. I love my business and I want to keep growing it and provide a reminder for people to love themselves through clothing. :)
